Kathy Bergdolt, Secretary, is in charge of the general appointment calendars of Professors McCormick and Maher, oversees the reception area of the Laboratory, and handles incoming telephone calls, directing them to various recipients and taking messages. She provides secretarial support: typing correspondence, manuscripts, grants, abstracts, and teaching materials; keeping curriculum vitae up-to-date, making travel arrangements for the Laboratory. She maintains files for graduate students in the College, and responds to applicants for graduate education in the College.

Suzanne Kohler, Science Coordinator, assists the Directors with grant project administration. She manages experiment-related operational problems, monitors laboratory techniques and protocol, coordinates the use of laboratory space, and supervises the staff of undergraduate assistants, monitoring their training. She is responsible for managing all the expendi- tures from a series of federal grants, coordinating purchasing of the scientific supplies and equipment, overseeing the supply inventories, and the use and repair of scientific equipment, etc. She oversees the undergraduate students working in the Laboratory, as well as graduate students doing rotations. She maintains the collection of >30,000 cell strains in the Cell Bank and their computerized inventory.

Bethany Heinlen, Administrative Assistant, manages the laboratory office staff, oversees personnel records, assists with personnel budget, manages the computers & server, provides upgrades and repairs, maintains the Web Site for the Carcinogenesis Laboratory, and assists with all graphics, etc. As coordinator for the Medical Scientist Training Program, she helps with recruiting new students, assists current students with curriculum planning, monitors their progress, and arranges seminars for them. As the assistant to Dr. Maher as the COM Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, she develops and monitors the budget for that office, attends meetings as needed, prepares reports, records etc.
