 The Carcinogenesis Laboratory

The Carcinogenesis Laboratory, a unit in the College of Osteopathic Medicine, specializes in research on the origin of human cancer. Strong evidence suggests that environmental agents, including smoking, are responsible for the majority of human cancer. However, the biochemical mechanisms by which normal cells are transformed into tumor-producing cells are not yet understood. Our goal is to gain insight into these processes so that strategies can be developed to interrupt or thwart this malignant transformation.

The third floor of the Food Safety and Toxicology Building is the home of the Carcinogenesis Laboratory. The laboratory was moved to its new home November 1997 from West Fee Hall. The beautiful Demonstration Gardens and the Childrens' 4-H Gardens surround the back of the building. The building access is off of Farm Lane adjacent to the green houses on the campus of Michigan State University.
